COVID-19 and East Winds

    It is with great sadness that we announce the temporary closure of East Winds Resort from 1st April, 2020. Given the international developments related to COVID-19, and as part of our ongoing effort to reduce the spread, we will suspend operations in the Hotel until further notice. Our hope is that we will be able to reopen soon.

    This decision to close has not been taken lightly, but is required for the well-being of the East Winds staff, our guests and the St Lucian community. We want to take this opportunity to thank our team for their dedication during the last few difficult and uncertain weeks.

    Cancellations and Date Changes

    We will try and keep things as simple as possible. If you have booked through an agent please contact your agent who will be able to manage cancellations and date changes for you.

    If you booked directly with the hotel and would like to cancel your holiday, we will refund you in full for any deposit you have already paid. This will remain in place until the hotel is able to reopen and at that point standard cancellation policy will resume unless you are coming from a country which is still experiencing travel restrictions on the date of your holiday.

    If you would like to change your holiday to another date, we will honour the price we agreed when you made your reservation, even if you rebook for a different time of year when the price is usually higher. You may rebook for any time up to the 31st December 2021.

    New Bookings

    If you would like to make a booking direct with the hotel for anytime after 1 June 2020, we will not take a deposit unless we are sure that travel is possible – just in case travel restrictions still apply. We will ask you to pay the full cost of your stay, 2 weeks before arrival, by which time there will be certainty about travel restrictions from your country.

    Our Team

    We ask for your help now to continue to pay the staff for as long as it takes during the COVID-19 crisis.     To our guests, thank you for your understanding and loyalty. We will continue to post updates on our website and other social media platforms. Our phone lines and email will remain open for future bookings, changes of existing reservations and any questions or concerns you may have.

    Current Guidelines for travelling to St Lucia
    You must either have a negative COVID-19 test result within 48 hours of departure or if that’s not
    possible, you will be tested on arrival.

    If you test positive on arrival, you will be quarantined and re-tested, if you have COVID-19 you
    will be taken care of in hospital.

    You must wear a mask during the flight.

    Visitors will not be allowed to mingle with the local population and you will be asked to remain in
    the hotel for the duration of your holiday.

    St Lucia is contact tracing, so at all points of your journey and at the hotel you will be asked to
    confirm who you have spent time with on the journey and during your holiday.

    All guests must have their temperature checked every day at the hotel.

    Social distancing must be observed everywhere, except with members of your own group.

    When in proximity to airport or hotel staff, drivers and other service providers you will be
    expected to wear a mask.

    What to expect at East Winds
    The same familiar faces will be here to greet you and welcome you back, the warm and friendly staff
    will be offering the same high level of service in our own relaxed St Lucian style. At the same
    time we will be responsible in conforming to the guidelines to keep you and our staff safe.

    At the hotel we have set up new protocols to protect both our guests and team from spreading the
    Social distancing will be observed at all times except for the members of the same group. No
    hugging, kissing or physical contact of any sort between staff and guests. Not even when saying
    hello or goodbye.

    The team will be using PPE – particularly front line staff who have close contact with guests.

    Food will all be served, self service is no longer allowed but instead you will enjoy having your
    every need looked after by our amazing team.

    You will choose how often to have your room serviced by housekeeping. There will be a team moving
    around the hotel, cleaning frequently touched services and ensuring a super high level of
    cleanliness in all common areas.

    Check in will take place remotely from your room, all luggage will be disinfected on arrival.

    There will be less tables in the dining room, we will not be able to combine different couples for
    shared dining and we will make more use of the dining gazebo’s whenever we can. All guests will be
    asked to come to the restaurant appropriately dressed, no damp swimming costumes for instance.

    You may be asked to wear PPE (Masks) in some circumstances, but if social distancing is observed,
    this will be kept to a minimum.
