We were celebrating a birthday and our personal dinner in a beachfront gazebo on our last night was perfection. All the staff enhanced the holiday experience but we were blown away by Theresa in the Spa who is very skilled and has a beautiful soul and also Davon on the water sports team who took us out on our Hobie adventures with his sailing skills and infectious personality.   Our 7th or 8th visit, I can’t remember which! East Winds has changed us from the ‘somewhere new each year’ to avid returners. What can I say that describes something... read more different from all the other reviews? Probably nothing at all. Flawless service from everyone, regardless of role, friendliest staff, gorgeous humming birds, comfortable rooms, truly home from home. Incremental improvements each year when you hadn’t realised improvements were needed. Meeting old friends and making new ones, this is a place you could come to on your own or with friends or partners. The grounds themselves are worth a visit and the garden tour with Sylvanus is a must. His knowledge of plants and their medicinal uses is amazing. Beach service, pool service, bar service, restaurant service, housekeeping, all just amazing! Great selection of wines paired with a new look, exciting menu just heavenly. For those with water sports on their mind, the team there are also fabulous. Would we go back again? Don't be silly - already booked!

We spent our first 2 days at the Ladera Resort at the West of the island, and checked out early as we were really unhappy - we had arrived to a hen party disco and the whirring pool pump in our room kept us awake. East Winds were able to fit us in at the last minute and turned a disastrous holiday into the holiday of a lifetime. East Winds by comparison is everything we were looking for. Tranquil, peaceful and totally relaxing. The gardens are beautiful, the food is incredible and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The beach is lovely, sunsets incredible, sunloungers the most comfortable in the world. The evening meal vibe is wonderful and listening to the pianist (Dien Thomas) was one of the highlights. The clientele (in February) is slightly older and mostly retired, but that suits us perfectly as it's so calm and quiet. Most people are British and they know their market - serving tea in teapots and even an option of roast beef on the Sunday (sounds tacky but it really isn't!). The yoga pavilion is one of the most idyllic places I've ever been.. it's undercover, mahogany floor and surrounded by... The yoga pavilion is one of the most idyllic places I've ever been.. it's undercover, mahogany floor and surrounded by palm trees - imagine doing Pilates or Yoga with a gentle Caribbean breeze drifting over your body. They offer 4 classes a week and I would have loved a daily class, but you are able to use the pavilion for your own practice. We normally have a rule that we won't return to a place as there's so much else to do, see and travel in the world.. but we will be returning here. The only negative is the gym which needs updating, but it's in the plans for the hotel and we really look forward to coming back and testing it out. We were worried about other reviewers talking about barking dogs, but honestly you don't really hear them and you get used to them pretty quickly. They didn't bother us at all.. and I have ears like a bat. We've been to other resorts in St Lucia and holidayed in the Maldives, and East Winds trumps them all. In 26 years of marriage I'd say this is our best holiday ever. More

  We loved this quiet beachfront hotel. We received a friendly, warm welcome on arrival and this level of service continued throughout our stay. We loved our de luxe garden suite... read more & enjoyed watching the humming birds flitting to and from the nectar feeder. The food was great served by friendly, efficient staff, the evening entertainment was consistently good. We went on a couple of excursions arranged by the hotel which we thoroughly enjoyed.

The gardens are spectacular, having been established by a botanist in the 1960s. Our room was spacious, well appointed and with plenty of wardrobe space. The bathroom was well appointed with beautifully made local china sinks and a huge sunken shower.

We stayed in a Deluxe Cottage which is less than 5 mins walk from the pool, bar, restaurant and beach. it was , as with the whole reosrt, spotless.
The staff deserve a special mention. Most of them adddresed us by name despite the fact this was our first visit. Some guests were into double figures for return visits.
The excursions, particularly the bot trip was excellent and set the scene for "Good Vibes" for the rest of the week.
It was a "big" birthday held in a little bit of paradise - the feeders outside the rooms meant we had hummingbords as regular visitors. Absolutely fabulous and highly recommended. More

At the time of booking the only room available was a superior cottage. The superior cottage on the hotel website has been refurbished and looked quite different to ours. In particular the bathroom was very tired and dated. When we complained about this, Judith, the manager, explained there was a program of refurbishment but only a few of the superior rooms had been updated and ours wasn't one of them. Given we had booked and paid based on what we saw on the website, we were naturally not very happy! The cottages are situated in extensive gardens which are well maintained. There is a good size swimming pool with a swim up bar. However, the dark stone and dark coloured sun loungers made it feel gloomy even in the brilliant St Lucian sun so we didn’t use it, preferring the beach. The beach is fairly small and shelves steeply. If you swim in the sea your feet won’t touch the bottom and you need the rope provided to haul yourself out. On the plus side, there are plenty of comfortable sun loungers and it didn’t feel crowded even though the hotel was full. The food was generally good, with... The drink offering was excellent with premium spirits, and the wine provided with the evening meal changed daily. There was even proper champagne at the manager’s cocktail party.
The staff were all very friendly and the activities laid on were well organised and entertaining. The live musical accompaniment to dinner was excellent.
This was my sixth visit to St Lucia but first visit to East Winds. It’s a very relaxing resort and I liked its small size and friendly feel. However, I don’t think I would return due to disappointment over the room and the lack of a long beach to walk on. More

It is a small hotel with around 60 guests. The staff were amazing,... read more the food absolutely delicious, the menu changed for every meal and the wines were selected for the menu, choice of 2 reds, 2 whites, 2 rose. They were very good wines. Our cottage had a large bedroom, bathroom a bit small but adequate and a small kitchen. The beach was lovely with plenty of sunbeds as was the pool. The gardens are beautiful and the head gardener gives an excellent tour every week.
East Winds probably appeals to the over 60's more, it is very peaceful and relaxing. It is all inclusive, one could eat and drink whenever. Most meals were accompanied by music, not loud but excellent, many tunes from the 60's and before. Many of the guests have been several times before. We would certainly like to return one day.
